thyssenkrupp Rasselstein focuses on innovative packaging steel at Metpack 2026

The company's stand at Metpack 2026
From 5 May, Metpack will once again serve as the meeting place for the inter-national metal packaging industry. thyssenkrupp Rasselstein, Germany’s sole tinplate manufacturer, will be represented at the trade show again this year. At Stand 3A31 in Hall 3, the company will present forward-looking solutions for the challenges facing tinplate packaging manufacturers today.
The company’s focus at the show is on innovative packaging steels that can increase efficiency and enable thickness reductions in packaging – while maintaining the stability of cans, twist-off closures or crown corks.
Visitors to thyssenkrupp’s stand can discover the latest developments, such as rasselstein CUP (Cup Ultimate Performance) for aerosol can mounting cups and rasselstein D&I Solid, the next generation of D&I material for two-piece food cans. rasselstein CUP combines excellent formability with significantly higher strength and low earing. rasselstein D&I Solid is a further development that enables material savings of up to 10% and thus significant efficiency gains.
“As the industry’s premier trade show, Metpack offers us the ideal setting to engage with our customers and present our new products and solutions,” commented Clarissa Odewald, CEO of thyssenkrupp Rasselstein GmbH. “We look forward to an intensive exchange, especially against the backdrop of current challenges and opportunities.”
thyssenkrupp Rasselstein has expanded its digital offering with the launch of the Canculator. The tool is integrated into the company’s Packaging Steel App and is based on the finite element analysis (FEA) and a machine learning model. The Canculator enables the estima-tion of achievable thickness reductions when using the innovative packaging steel grade rasselstein D&I Solid for two-piece food cans. Various parameters can be individually adjusted using sliders; the resulting, customer-specific thickness reductions are calculated within seconds. The Canculator can be tested at the thyssenkrupp Rasselstein Metpack booth and provides valuable insights for further developments in the customer portfolio.
Visitors to the thyssenkrupp Rasselstein stand can also learn about other new developments, such as tinplate made from CO2-reduced bluemint Steel, with which the tinplate manufacturer is making an active contribution to reducing emissions in production processes and supporting its customers in achieving their sustainability goals.
