Blue Monday

This week has been a real opportunity to learn from the can making oracle that is Evert Van de Weg. It was a pleasure for us to host Evert during the week and it has further enhanced my view that this industry is a terrific one in which to work in. We had a chance to discuss the editorial direction of CanTech International at length and as a result, the trade can look forward to some changes to its features for the second half of 2016 including an increased technical focus and more frequent investigation into the filling side of the market. There is plenty to look forward to!
Reportedly this Monday (18 January) just gone was aptly titled ‘Blue Monday’, as apparently it was the most depressing day of the year. The reason for this is due to a number of factors including debt being accumulated over Christmas and New Year’s resolutions failing as diets and exercise regimes start to fall by the wayside.
Unfortunately my attempts, as outlined in my blog a couple of weeks ago, have failed miserably as the lure of the social drink and my lack of willpower has regrettably kicked in. I’m not the only one I would’ve thought, but nevertheless, it’s a slap on the wrist for me!
With meetings lined up next week with The British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association (BAMA) and The Beverage Can Makers of Europe (BCME), I’m looking forward to getting out on the road and putting more faces to names. Of course if you would like to meet to discuss editorial opportunities for 2016, please contact me through the usual channels.
I hope the rest of this week is a little less blue.
