Time to dream?
We are now only a couple of days away from Euro 2016 and there appears to be a degree of cautious optimism building in England. Typically, this optimism will only last a few days as we get bundled out of the tournament at the quarter final stage – probably on penalties. For me though, it is hard to see past the hosts France with home advantage.
Alongside England I will be cheering on Portugal, as I’ve managed to draw them in the work’s office sweepstake. I’m hoping Cristiano Ronaldo keeps himself fit and has a decent tournament. I’m not holding out much hope for my other selection though – Romania!
It’s predicted that the tournament will see a real spike in demand for aluminium cans according to Novelis chief executive, Steve Fisher. In the past, events like the 2014 World Cup in Brazil saw an increasing consumption of beer or other soft drinks in cans. Let’s hope for more of the same in the next few weeks. I also enjoy the range of football themed beer cans on offer and so far I’ve stocked up on Carlsberg’s Euro 2016 themed packaging. It’s nice to be able to combine some business with pleasure!
