We’re back from our break over the festive period here and it’s a bright but cold start to the New Year in Kent (CanTech‘s HQ), although we’re not snow-covered like some parts of the UK! A flurry is usually all we see in the Southeast before the rain and ice come to create traffic and disrupt commutes…

But ignoring that – the beginning of the year is always an exciting start in publishing and the wider business world, with new goals and targets set, budgets confirmed and plans underway. Expect to see more of the kind of news we’ve had so far this week, including new product launches, sustainable decision-making and partnerships forged.

This year we have many events to look forward to in the metal packaging world. First up is Paris Packaging Week, which I will be attending at the beginning of February along with thousands of others in the aerosol, beauty, premium drinks and luxury packaging industries. Karen Abarian, organiser Easyfairs’ senior marketing manager, provides us with an exciting preview in CanTech‘s January magazine edition, available now to subscribers.

In April, the British Aerosol Manufacturers Association (BAMA) Innovation Day takes place, as well as the BetterCans and Ohio State University educational spring seminar on two-piece beverage cans.

Then, before we know it, the first week of May will be here, which will see the largest global showcase of metal packaging in Essen, Germany, for Metpack. Team CanTech is excited to have a stand there yet again and look forward to seeing all the can equipment and packaging on display, networking with the industry and providing some juicy exclusives for readers. Watch this space!

Wishing you all a brilliant start to 2026.
