Football fan pushes can scheme

FC United fan ‘Bonner’ has devised an aluminium can recycling initiative to raise funds for the club.
The objective is to get supporters to bring crushed aluminium cans to every home game and deposit them in a collection point near Herby’s food van.
Bonner said: “If 10% of our average crowd (333) bring 33 crushed empty cans to every game, that would be 10,000 cans a match, worth over £100 at current rates! So, please bring your crushed cans, a plastic shopping bag will hold over 50 and let’s tap into this unused resource.
“We only want aluminium cans, typically, the cans that contain soft drinks and beer/lager/cider, not tin food cans as it’s the aluminium that is of value.
“I believe that this could be a regular income source for the club. They say that ‘Football Without Fans Is Nothing’ but we believe ‘Football With Fans’ cans Is something.”
