Turkish can maker joins Empac

European Metal Packaging (Empac), the association which brings together European producers of rigid metal packaging and their supply chain partners, has announced the addition of Turkish can maker Sarten Ambalaj as an associate member.

Established in 1972, Sarten is the leading can maker in Turkey and the Middle East, and one of the largest family-owned manufacturers of cans in Europe. In 2010, Sarten ranked 127 among Turkey’s top 500 industrial enterprises.

Sarten, which has ISO 9001 certification, encompasses a total of 14 factories, 12 in Turkey and two abroad (Bulgaria and Russia) and employs over 2,400 people. The company exports to 55 countries with sales forecast to exceed US$350 million in 2011.

Sarten’s product range includes food cans, aerosols, twist off caps and easy open ends.
