Tubex receives World Star Award for aerosol deodorant can
The Tubex team has announced that it has been awarded with another World Star Award for the Unilever Rexona Recycled Refreshed deodorant aluminium aerosol can.
The can displays unique properties in terms of sustainability. It is manufactured from a patented alloy with an inclusion of 25% real PCR material. The use of alloy and slight change of shape makes Rexona Recycled Refreshed even 14% lighter than its predecessor. This substantial weight reduction was the result of the joint development of Unilever, Tubex and the slug supplier Neuman Aluminium.
Usually a can is fully lacquered inside. This can however is only partially (50%) lacquered – which saves additional resources. Standard lacquers emit VOC when applied. To forego the use of VOC, Unilever chose to use internal powder coating instead. Tubex was the first can manufacturer in the industry to apply internal powder coating and has longtime experience working with this completely VOC-free lacquer. To meet Tubex sustainability standards of aerosol can manufacturing, the overspray of the powder coating is reused.
“The properties this can displays in terms of sustainability is the result of an over decade long development. We are very honoured that the WPO Jury acknowleged our developments in sustainability in aluminium aerosol can manufacturing. The Tubex team continues to develop sustainable solutions in aerosol can manufacturing, to offer our customers the most sustainable aluminium aerosol can in the world,” says Leo Werdich, managing director of TUBEX.
