One millionth application for Flexidec system

Ardagh Group’s Flexidec decoration system has been used on one million cans – a landmark that was celebrated by staff and customers at the firm’s Norwich plant.

The system, which was launched just over a year ago, was developed by Ardagh to deliver short run flexibility with high quality graphic reproduction.  It can be used on paint and coatings cans.

The process through pre-press colour management and the unique Flexidec application system was designed to match direct print giving customers complete flexibility without compromise to pack quality. Depending upon can size customers are able to order as little as one pallet.

“Flexidec has really caught the imagination of our customers who were looking for a solution to their short run complexity,” says Neil Chapman, business development manager at Ardagh. “Brand owners are now designing specifically for the process and we are getting many repeat orders.”

Flexidec gives all the benefits of direct print but without the volume demands, bringing significant cost savings and waste reduction in terms of obsolescence. It also gives brand owners and marketers the opportunity to test new markets and product extensions without compromising their brand integrity.

“The flexibility of the Flexidec tin print method has had a significant impact on our ability to be reactive and introduce new products to the market,” adds Claire Jackson, marketing coordinator at PPG. “Iinnovation is at the core of our business so we’re delighted to deal with suppliers that share this thirst for improvement.”
