Can-Pack to build beverage can plant in Finland

Poland based Can-Pack is set to build a beverage can plant in Finland in an effort to meet the growing needs of customers in the Baltic countries.

Under the project, which is costing almost €100 million ($132.2m), 33cl and 50cl aluminium cans will be produced at the factory, which will have an annual production capacity of 1.8 billion cans.

In the first stage, which is scheduled for completion in late 2011 or early 2012, a production line with a capacity of 900 million cans a year will be installed.

The factory will be located in the town of Hämeenlinna, about 100 km north of Helsinki on land acquired from the local authorities of Hämeenlinna municipality. The investment will provide approximately 150 new jobs directly at the factory and almost the same under cooperation of local suppliers and carriers.

In parallel with the construction of the factory, Can-Pack Group will actively participate in the recycling of used cans (UBC) as it is in the other countries where the Group has its own factories.
