Czech aluminium aerosol can manufacturer Moravia Cans has joined the UK Aerosol Recycling Initiative (UKARI) as its newest funding partner.

UKARI, launched in 2022 and led by Alupro, is working to boost nationwide awareness and improve aerosol recycling rates, with the goal of reaching 50% by 2030. The initiative brings together organisations and industry figures from across the supply chain to encourage lasting changes in recycling habits.

As a contributor, Moravia Cans will help fund UKARI’s research projects, data gathering, pilot schemes, and public awareness campaigns. This year, waste analysis studies have already been carried out in Solihull and Manchester, with dedicated aerosol recycling campaigns planned for September.

Martin Boaler, CEO of Moravia Cans, commented: “We’re proud to become a funding partner of UKARI. As a major producer of aluminium aerosol cans, we recognise the need to challenge misconceptions, better understand consumer habits, and run campaigns that raise recycling rates. UKARI has already played a vital role in clarifying the true recycling baseline and exploring key issues in the sector. By supporting the programme, we look forward to helping drive meaningful progress.”

Alupro’s executive director, Tom Giddings, added: “Our core goals for UKARI are to promote sustainability, inspire change, and achieve a 50% aerosol recycling rate by 2030. With Moravia Cans now on board, we can step up our activities and accelerate progress in the months ahead.”
