Rexam to produce Battery cans in Finland

Rexam’s new plant in Finland will produce cans for the country’s original energy drink brand Battery.

The 33cl cans, which are designed to use the cans natural shape to resemble a battery and the ‘liquid energy’ inside, are currently manufactured at Rexam’s Denmark plant.  Following the inauguration of Rexam’s new plant in Mäntsälä, Finland, can production is now being moved there, making the manufacturing process more efficient.

Antti Airaksinen, Battery brand manager at Sinebrychoff, said: “We were delighted when Rexam announced they were opening a new plant in Mäntsälä. The plant is only 30 minutes from our brewery which is really convenient and it was a simple choice to move our can supply to the new plant.  We have been working with Rexam since the 1980s and our great relationship has helped make the move easy and efficient. ”

Tomas Westergren, regional sales director at Rexam Beverage Can, added: “Battery is a really strong international energy drink brand and it is great that we can offer a more efficient solution to them, which is something we strive to do for all our customers. Our main focus has been to transfer the can production to our Mäntsälä plant with as little disruption as possible.”

Battery is aimed at consumers looking for a temporary boost in energy combined with a great flavour. In Finland it is sold in restaurants, petrol stations, shops, kiosks and nightclubs everywhere and in 40 countries across the globe.
