One billion plus cans sold
Brasilata is celebrating after selling one billion of its patented plus can.
Launched in 1995 the mechanical closure system developed by the company is patented in Brazil as well as the United States, the European Union, Japan and China.
To promote historic record a series of commemorative gold coin banks in the shape of a small paint can (pictured) with the plus closure have been produced.
Until the last decade of the 20th century the packaging market for paint continued to use only cans with the conventional friction closure, which patent dates back to 1905, despite the search for innovation.
In 1995 Brasilata surprised the market when it introduced the new closure system for round paint cans with a number of benefits, which can better stand internal pressure, knocks, blows and even falls.
It also uses less raw material in consumption of steel sheet in the ring.
