Polish can maker Can-Pack has expanded its UK site and opened an entirely new factory in Russia.

Late last month the official opening (pictured) of the new beverage can plant in Novocherkassk, Russia took place.

The factory produces cans with a capacity of 25cl, 33cl and 50cl and its installed capacity of the production line is 2600 cans per minute, giving one billion cans per year.

Can-Pack UK’s can making plant is to be fitted with a new line to cope with increased demand.

The board of the company explained the new line would be installed in the first quarter of 2014.

It is expected to have a capacity of 650m can a year and in the future is likely to be upgraded to top 1bn can a year.

The plant in located in Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire and can make a variety of can sizes, ends and tabs.
