Can-Pack joins Every Can Counts as funding partner

Beverage can maker Can-Pack has joined the drinks can recycling programme Every Can Counts after committing funding for a three-year period.

The company will join representatives from the other beverage can makers and aluminium and steel packaging recyclers on the national steering committee.

Philip Fisher, managing director, Can-Pack UK, said: “Every Can Counts is an excellent initiative which is making a meaningful contribution to increasing ‘on the go’ recycling rates for drinks cans used outside the home. Can-Pack is committed to both recycling and sustainability, so we wanted to join the UK’s leading programme.”

“We welcome Can-Pack as a key supporter of our programme and look forward to our future work together,” adds Rick Hindley of Every Can Counts. “Every Can Counts has made real progress in developing successful recycling programmes for beverage cans since its launch. We now have over 4,000 Every Can Counts collection points around the UK within nearly 500 organisations and this number keeps on growing. It is a very exciting time for the programme.”

Around 30% of the nine billion cans sold every year are consumed outside the home; mainly in workplaces and whilst ‘on the go’, so they do not get picked up for recycling through local authority collections for domestic waste. Every Can Counts addresses this gap, helping organisations to set up and promote recycling schemes to staff and customers.
