Heinz launches new soup after vote

Canned food giant Heinz has introduced a new flavour soup after a public vote.

The company will introduce fiery chicken and chorizo to its BIG soup family, served in three-piece cans.

Heinz’s search for a new flavour started in February this year with a UK tour asking members of the public to trial three flavours

Consumers were able to vote online and out of the 30,000 votes cast, 44% favoured the fiery chicken and chorizo variety, making it a resounding winner, roast ham and pea came second, narrowly edging out BBQ chicken and veg.

Chris Isaac, Heinz Big Soup brand manager, said, “The combination of chicken with the more exotic chorizo reflects trends amongst consumers, who are increasingly demanding more adventurous flavours, not to mention an injection of spice.

“We were also keen to expand our BIG Soup 500g range after a consistent uptake in sales since launch in 2011.

Fiery chicken and chorizo will be available in UK supermarkets from the end of August and the 500g cans will have a RRP of £1.39.
