Asia CanTech day two
Day two of Asia CanTech 2015 got underway today (27 October) with a few words from conference director Neil McRitchie. He thanked the delegation for their continued support before introducing the first prestigious keynote speaker of the event, John Bigley, managing director of Jamestrong Packaging – Australia & New Zealand.
Jamestrong is billed as the ‘new, old kid on the block’ and was formed on 31 December 2014. It was interesting to hear an update from Australasia, particularly about the burgeoning powdered milk sector. Indeed, in order to meet demand, Jamestrong have just placed an order with KBA MetalPrint for a one line eight-colour MetalStar 3 machine.
The presentations flowed very well throughout the day, with topics from vision inspection to hybrid bottles covered. It was a diverse mix as always, of which you can read more in the next issue of CanTech.
The tabletop exhibition was buzzing with can makers and suppliers alike in the late afternoon, which was followed by the Gala dinner and the much anticipated Asia CanTech Awards.

Supreme Award – Tin Box Asia Pacific
The Supreme Award, which also won the Speciality category, was for the Incredible Hulk Money Bank – a mixture of unique shaping and clever artwork.
