PPG has announced that its packaging coatings business will exhibit at the Aerosol and Dispensing Forum (ADF) held in New York on 13-14 September.

PPG expert will deliver a presentation on how changes to regulations are impacting packaging makers’ and brand owners’ requirements for metal packaging coatings, as well as highlighting new generation PPG packaging coatings products during the show,

Robyn McMillan, global segment manager, monobloc aerosol and tube coatings, will give a presentation about the addition of Bisphenol A (BPA) to the California Proposition 65 list in the US and how this regulation change is affecting customers’ requirements for packaging coatings. She will discuss PPG products and technologies that can help aluminum aerosol and tube packaging makers and brand owners comply with new regulatory requirements.

“For several years, PPG has invested in developing high-performance coatings technologies that eliminate BPA and other substances of concern to our monobloc beverage, food and aerosol can packaging customers,” said McMillan.

Featured coatings will include products with higher solids content and reduced volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, such as Bisphenol A non-intent (BPA-NI, or with no BPA intentionally added) internal and external coatings, N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone-free for Monobloc internal liners, and benzophenone-free ultraviolet-cure (UV-cure) varnishes for plastic tubes.

“Our HOBA MAX (PPG8900 series) liquid internal liner for monobloc aerosol cans has a significantly higher solids content than traditional internal liners, and our Hoba Purair powder internal liner is 100 percent solids,” she added.

During the show, PPG will showcase its full range of Bisphenol A non-intent external basecoats and over-varnishes that offer a complete BPA-NI system for monobloc aerosol and bottle can packages.
