Poignant timing

It’s only been a few weeks since I came across Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘DNA in a can‘ and wrote about it for the blog, but yesterday (22 July), it was announced that the ‘Prince of Darkness’ passed away. There has been an outpouring of love and respect paid by fans and fellow musicians worldwide since.
We don’t know for certain if Ozzy knew the end was that near, but some might say he timed his exit ‘well,’ having only a couple of weeks ago played his farewell concert with Black Sabbath. The fans who were able to purchase his DNA in a can via Liquid Death have gained a keepsake that has likely skyrocketed in value sooner than they expected.
More positive news to come out of yesterday was that Sarah Hills and I made a visit to London to meet up with Easyfairs’ senior marketing manager, Karen Abarian, to discuss all things Paris Packaging Week 2026. This year’s edition broke attendance records and 2026 is set to see even bigger growth and more innovations, so watch this space for upcoming content from the organisers, and from us, as we give you some exciting previews of what’s to come. The aerosol and beauty categories are integral to the event, so expect to see new features focused on both of these in future magazine issues.
First though, is Asia CanTech, which is creeping closer! We’ve been offering exhibitor and speaker previews throughout the past month to give you an insight into our lineup, which is set to cover all areas of the can making process. In addition, our Awards are the perfect way to showcase your cans if you’re a manufacturer. We’re open to submissions in the food, general line, beauty, aerosols and beverage categories, in both two- and three-piece forms. Cans of all shapes, sizes and designs will be celebrated! Enter at asia-can.com/awards. The general registration link is here – we have limited gold and silver packages left.
