The good news space

Due to the current Covid-19 crisis, it’s easy to immerse yourself in news and social media that is, although essential, not good for your mental health.

However, there have been a number of positive news stories from those in the can making industry recently. So cheer yourself up for five minutes and learn about the terrific things the industry is doing during these challenging times.

Fresh water to truckers

Ball and Molson Coors have donated 154,000 cans to truck drivers across the US and Canada to help limit their number of stops undertaken and to maximise social distancing.

 Art competition at CarnaudMetalbox

Employees at CarnaudMetalbox tasked their children with an artwork competition to cheer on essential workers. The response to the children’s art competition saw over 70 pictures received in less than a week (including the fantastic cover image I’ve used). These are being displayed around CMB’s factory in Shipley, UK.

Contributing to the PPE shortage

A number of companies have risen to the PPE shortage. This includes SLAC adding a CV20R N95 Mask Manufacturing Machine to its portfolio, and IST Metz distributing an air disinfection system.

Delivering water to paramedic teams

Canpack delivered 12,000 cans of water to paramedic teams, bringing help to those in need, in the cities of Kraków, Bydgoszcz, Brzesko, Tarnów, Tychy, Dębica and Orzesze.

One in a million

McCall Farms, one of America’s leading producers of canned foods, is donating 1,000,000 servings of canned food to Harvest Hope Food Bank’s. Likewise, Tata Group in India has donated 1,000,000 meals to help fight the crisis in India.

Solidarity with your local bar

Anheuser-Busch InBev has launched #BarSolidaire in France, where you buy a voucher now and use it once your favourite bar reopen.

Sharing is caring

Canned water company CanO Water has recently been offering a fantastic deal. When you order its two case package online, the company will send another two cases (48 cans) for free to someone you know that could do with them.

AND A FUN ONE:

Roast Dinner in a can

For those not able to access all their ingredients for their Sunday roast, a craft brewer from the North of England, Northern Monk, has released a limited edition Aunt Bessie’s ‘Roast Dinner Brown Ale’.

Share your stories with the industry, and let’s create a culture of positivity during this challenging time. Bravo to all concerned!
