Wicked recycling

Further steps towards empowering consumers to recycle more and recycle better by bringing increased awareness and improving the recyclability of its products have been made by Wicked Weed Brewing, a member of the Brewers Collective, the craft business unit of Anheuser-Busch.

It recently implemented the How2Recycle consumer-friendly recyclability labelling system programme to mark World Recycling Day on 18 March.

How2Recycle is a project of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition and the standardised labelling system has been adopted by more than 400 brands and retailers to communicate recycling instructions to consumers.

“Wicked Weed is committed to transparency and improving the recyclability of our products. By using How2Recycle’s review process and standardised labels, we are able to communicate our efforts and ensure we are using packaging that is recyclable,” said Andrew Dagnan, director of Safety and Sustainability and Wicked Weed Brewing. “Providing consumers with information to ensure proper recycling will help reduce contamination in recycling facilities – improving the recyclability of all materials, not just those from Wicked Weed.”

The project will be rolled out across Wicked Weed’s portfolio of brands including Dr. Dank Daily and Haze, a sessionable IPA launching later this spring.

Anheuser-Busch joined the programme in 2021, committing to using the How2Recycle label across its brands and having its packaging made from majority recycled content or returnable by 2025.

The How2Recycle label is a US and Canada-based standardised labelling system. For more information, visit: [email protected].
