Back to Bangkok: Asia CanTech preview

This year we celebrate the return of Asia CanTech in-person after two years of disruption due to the pandemic. The annual conference for can manufacturers based in the Asia Pacific region assembles technical experts and key decision makers from the metal packaging industry and facilitates networking and collaboration across the sector, as well as showcasing the latest technology and innovations on offer.

The event returns to Bangkok once again after the success of the location in previous years, and with metal packaging playing an integral part in Thailand’s economy, as illustrated by this month’s magazine features.

The conference is being held at the Royal Sheraton Hotel and Towers, conveniently located just minutes away from Bangkok’s business districts, entertainment areas and attractions. The five-star hotel is situated on the Chao Phraya River across which free shuttle boats bring guests to Saphan Taksin BTS Skytrain Station, providing easy access to all modes of transport and to popular attractions such as the Icon Siam Shopping Mall, MBK Center, Siam Paragon, Chatuchak weekend market and countless other hotspots. The beautiful views of the city, and the ample, functional room the hotel provides, will help make our conference a memorable event for all.

The conference is structured over three all-inclusive days (24-26 October), with registration, set up and rehearsals, exhibition and welcome dinner taking place on the 24 October. Day two kicks off with keynote speaker, Saravoot Yoovidhya, CEO of TCP Group, followed by a series of further presentations and an exhibition. The day concludes with the Gala Dinner, during which the Asia CanTech Awards ceremony will take place, celebrating the excellence of can and end makers that are based in or distibute their products in Asia. The third and final day completes the event with presentations and the Candid Forum, followed by the last exhibition and a buffet lunch, to allow for further networking opportunities with industry experts and stakeholders. Entrance to all keynote presentations, exhibitions and the Candid Forum, alongside the conference pack with a list of all attendees, is included in the package for this year’s event.

With the wealth of information and experience accumulated over the event’s hiatus period, opportunities at the 2022 edition of Asia CanTech will only be maximised for discussion and learning at the hands of world-class speakers and exhibitors.

A word from our editor…

“When I first joined Bell Publishing two and a half years ago, I heard about the success of the 2019 Asia CanTech show and hoped I could attend one day as digital editor. Unfortunately due to Covid, this meant that in 2020 it was not possible. In 2021, I did join the Virtual Asia CanTech conference which was a great experience, but there’s nothing like the real, in-person thing.

“Now, as CanTech International editor, I’m very much looking forward to faciliting Asia CanTech 2022 with our brilliant team, and meeting many people in the metal packaging industry I haven’t yet had a chance to speak to face-to-face. We will also be hosting our Candid Forum, so if you’re going to be an attendee and have a burning question for our panel based on sustainability in the industry, please do get in touch ahead of the event. My contact details are on page five. See you in Bangkok!”

Alex Rivers, CanTech International editor

From some of Asia CanTech 2022’s attendees:

“Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint GmbH is looking forward to presenting information about the new MetalStar 4 at CanTech Asia 2022. Hear from regional sales director Gerhard Grossman on Tuesday 25 Oct 2022 at 10:00am where he will be talking about the latest generation of the MetalStar, which was launched in November 2021.

“In the meantime, two MetalStar 4 have been installed and handed over to the customer. The machines work very well and we are happy to have received positive feedback from our clients.

“The MetalStar 4 presents itself in a new design with innovative, pioneering technology. To meet the growing demands of the metal decorating market even better, the MetalStar 4 offers new functions and improvements in the feeder, state-of-the-art measuring technology and new functions for monitoring production and enhancing ergonomics. What remains unchanged is the proven MetalStar technology, such as the short and dynamic inking and dampening unit and high-precision register printing thanks to the sheet travel in the gripper closure, as well as the extensive automation features that reduce make-ready times to a minimum.”
