Prices paid for UBCs raised by Novelis

The price paid for used aluminium beverage cans (UBCs) in the UK has risen to £920 (US$1,476) per tonne.

Novelis, the world’s largest recycler of aluminium beverage cans, has increased the price offered for baled and densified UBCs by more than eight per cent.

The company says the price rise is an appropriate and planned commercial response and is part of a longstanding Novelis strategy to pay competitive prices to suppliers for quality UBCs which feed the Novelis UK closed loop recycling process.

Novelis has an established policy in terms of both price and quality but is also able to take a flexible and proactive approach when working with suppliers.

All cans sold to Novelis are reprocessed in the UK at a dedicated aluminium can recycling plant in Warrington, Cheshire, and within as little as 60 days they can be remade and back on the supermarket shelf.
