BPE supports Polish walkers

Ball Packaging Europe handed out limited edition beverage cans to paticipants at the World Walking Day in Poland.

The Maszeruję – Kibicuję [I walk – I support] cans were given out to the people of Warsaw who marched the city streets on Sunday, 7 October.

Robert Korzeniowski, winner of several gold medals for racewalking, led the walkers. Despite the cool weather 3,500 people accompanied him.

The citizens of the capital city of Warsaw who walked the five-kilometre route were actively supporting the participants in the 10-kilometre “Run Warsaw” race.

Ball Packaging Europe produced a limited edition of the Maszeruję – Kibicuję beverage can especially to celebrate the racewalkers’ holiday.

More than 5,000 commemorative cans of isotonic drink were handed out to Varsovians. The walkers included, among others, Joanna Mucha, Minister of Sports and Tourism, who assumed honorary patronage over the event.

At the time of the event in Warsaw, Ball Packaging Europe organised a contest promoting recycling of cans, which five hundred people participated in.

The celebrations of World Walking Day provided the only opportunity to win this unique can, since it will never be commercially distributed. Participants of marches organised in 17 Polish cities were given an isotonic drink in the can. Apart from Warsaw, similar events were also organised in Koszalin, Poznań, Wrocław, Łódź, Toruń, Rzeszów, Zielona Góra, Opole, Łomża, Puławy, Bielsko-Biała and Wałbrzych as well as in Dobczyce, Słupia, Olsztyn near Częstochowa and Bukowa.

As is the case every year, World Walking Day was held under the patronage of TAFISA – The Association for International Sport for All. Ball Packaging Europe sponsors this international organisation.
