Employees at Alcoa Canada are highlighting the energy savings achieved through recycling with a Christmas tree made of aluminium cans.

Alcoa Canada Global Primary Products, Alcoa Foundation and its partner Sustainable House recently unveiled the holiday can tree.

The tree, which is made of 700 reused aluminium cans, was built by a group of Canadian high school students. The activity was an opportunity for them to find out more about the importance of recycling aluminium.

“This tree is a unique way to reuse aluminium over the holidays,” says Lysane Martel, director, communications and public affairs, Alcoa Canada Global Primary Products, and Alcoa Foundation director in Canada. “It puts forth creativity while reminding everyone how sustainable aluminium is as it can be almost infinitely recycled.”

Alcoa is the world’s leading producer of primary aluminium and fabricated aluminium.
