Hindustan Tin to launch Canvironment Week 2011
Indian can maker Hindustan Tin Works is planning to officially kick off proceedings for Canvironment Week 2011 during the Metpack and Interpack trade fairs in Germany next month.
Crown’s first-quarter results lifted by global beverage can sales
Leading can maker Crown has reported first quarter sales of US$1.88 billion, an increase of 5.9% compared with the same period in 2010. Beverage can sales were up in the Americas region, reaching $540m, while in Europe sales were up to $340m compared to £314m during the same period in 2010.
Conference line-up revealed
The lineup for this year’s Metpack Conference has been revealed. Focusing on Modern Can Technology, the conference will feature eight speakers who will be presenting the latest research results and new manufacturing technologies all relating to metal packaging in 2011.
Rexam to build new can plant in Brazil
Rexam has announced that it will build a new beverage can plant close to the city of Belem, Northern Brazil. The plant will have a capacity of 1.2 billion cans and is expected to be operational by mid 2012.

Can maker Crown is launching a “revolutionary” new twist-off closure at Interpack in Germany. The closure’s unique design is said to significantly reduce the torque required to remove the closure, enhancing convenience for consumers of all ages.
One-litre can released in Europe
A new one-litre can has been launched by Rexam in Western Europe. The can maker introduced the two-piece King Can into the German market in March.
