Ball to build third beverage can plant in Brazil
Latapack-Ball has announced plans to build a third beverage can making plant in Brazil. Ball Corporation has revealed that Latapack-Ball Embalagens, the company’s majority-owned beverage can joint venture in Brazil, plans to build a new facility in Alagoinhas, in the Brazilian state of Bahia.
Crown offers added convenience with new aerosol size
Crown’s aerosol can plant in South Carolina is now able to produce slim 45mm diameter containers – a size which is more convenient for women. Crown Aerosol Packaging North America has invested in equipment at its Spartanburg facility that will allow the company to manufacture the smaller size.
Crown to build Brazilian can plant in Belem
Crown Embalagens, a subsidiary of Crown Holdings, has announced that it will build a beverage can plant in Belem, Northern Brazil. The plant will produce two-piece aluminium beverage cans in multiple sizes and is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2012.
Ball reports strong full-year results
Ball Corporation has reported an increase in sales in its results for 2010 – thanks in part to double-digit volume growth in China and Brazil. The company’s net earnings from continuing operations were $542.9 million, on sales of $7.6 billion, compared to $390.1 million, on sales of $6.7 billion in 2009.
Ball’s Torrance plant to close as part of restructure
US can making giant Ball Corporation has announced plans to reorganise its operations as the company aims to decrease its overall installed beverage can capacity in North America. As a result of the restructure, Ball is closing one of its larger plants, transferring a production line and expanding speciality can production.
Rexam increases production at Egyptian plant
Rexam has converted lines at its Egyptian beverage can plant from steel to aluminium after customers started to show a growing preference for aluminium. The company has also increased production capacity in order to meet customer demand.

Can-Pack to build beverage can plant in Finland
Poland based Can-Pack is set to build a beverage can plant in Finland in an effort to meet the growing needs of customers in the Baltic countries. Under the project, which is costing almost €100 million ($132.2m), 33cl and 50cl aluminium cans will be produced at the factory, which will have an annual production capacity of 1.8 billion cans.
