New speakers announced for Asia CanTech

Newly announced speakers from the Ardagh Group and Crown Packaging have joined the lineup for Asia CanTech Vietnam 2011. Robert Zanetto, business development director Metal-Asia for Ardagh Group, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker.

First keynote speaker lined up for Asia CanTech 2011

Gihan Atapattu, president of Ball Asia Pacific, is the first keynote speaker confirmed for Asia CanTech Vietnam 2011. Atapattu has been at Ball for just over a year after joining the company from SML Group (Hong Kong) where he was chief executive officer for three years.

Supplier excellence recognised by Rexam

Rexam Beverage Can Europe & Asia recently held its annual supplier awards ceremony in the UK. The awards recognised supplier excellence throughout 2010 and took place at Sopwell House in St Albans. More than 100 guests, including 40 suppliers, attended the event.

Hindustan Tin Works now exporting to China

Indian can maker Hindustan Tin Works (HTW) has added China to its list of export destinations. While China exports millions of cans to the entire world, Hindustan Tin has started exporting metal can components to China.

Baosteel to build can plant in Vietnam

Baosteel Group is planning to build its first overseas beverage can plant in Vietnam, according to reports. The Chinese company, which is the world’s second-largest steel maker by output, hopes the steel beverage can plant will help meet the increasing demand from the Southeast Asian market.

Ball to build can plant in Vietnam

Ball has entered into an agreement with its joint venture partner Thai Beverage Can Limited to build a beverage can manufacturing plant in Vietnam. The plant will be located in the Tan Uyen district in Binh Duong province. Ball will hold an approximately 50 percent economic interest in the joint venture facility, which is expected to begin production in the first half of 2012.

Mueller joins Crown’s board

Crown Holdings has announced that Josef Mueller has been elected to the company’s board of directors. The board now has 12 members. Mueller has spent his entire 35-year career with Nestlé for which he most recently served as chairman and CEO of the company’s Greater China Region until his retirement in 2007.
