Crown expands beverage can production in Vietnam
Crown Holdings is set to expand beverage can production capacity in all three of its existing facilities in Vietnam. The company will add a second can line to its facility in Hanoi.
Conway confident as beverage can sales help improve Crown’s results
The chief executive of can making company Crown expects a “busy and promising” 2011 following the release of its final year results. Higher unit sales of beverage and food cans worldwide helped to improve margins at the company with beverage can sales unit volumes rising 13% and food can volumes up 5% in the fourth quarter.
Novelis to expand aluminium recycling at German plant
Novelis, a leader in aluminium rolled products and can recycling, is investing $18 million (€13m) into the construction of a new recycling centre at Aluminium Norf (Alunorf) in western Germany. Construction has already started on a multi-chamber melting furnace and ancillary equipment that will recycle 50,000 metric tons of aluminium scrap per year to feed the rolling mills of Alunorf, the world’s largest aluminium rolling complex.
Bericap moves into Asia
German beverage closures manufacturer, Bericap, has opened a production facility in Singapore. The plant will provide a direct service to customers in the ASEAN-zone, which was up until now served by a sales office and deliveries from Bericap China and other Bericap facilities.
Ball secures new long-term credit facility
US can making company Ball Corporation has secured a new long-term borrowing facility worth $1.4 billion (€1bn). The credit facility will extend bank maturities through 2015 and could fund further expansion in addition to stock repurchases.
