Second filler to use wine in can technology

French filler Cacolac has signed a contract with Australian company Barokes licensing them to fill wine in a can using Vinsafe technology. The Vinsafe process is the only wine-in-a-can packaging system, combining long shelf life with high product quality and managed by global patents.

Rexam suppliers continue to invest in wine in cans

Rexam Beverage Can Europe has worked with one of its filling partners, DIS, to install new equipment that will allow the company to fill wine in cans. This installation will allow a smoother and more precise filling technique, and will ensure that cans filled with wine under the Wild Pelican brand, are 100% perfect when landing on the retailers’ shelves for consumers’ enjoyment.

Personal care drives aerosol growth

UK aerosol fillings increased by 3.3% over the previous year, according to the latest annual figures from the British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association (BAMA). The data, released by the trade body yesterday (1 June), highlights the success of the metal pack format.

Sandwich in a can goes on sale

Candwich, a sandwich in a can, is now available to buy in the US and online. The product was invented in the US by Markonefoods and has a shelf life of a year.

Back on track

The latest statistics from BCME (Beverage Can Makers Europe) show that despite tough economic conditions last year, there was strong growth in the beverage can market in Europe. In 2010, the European beverage can market hit 54.1 billion cans, up 5.2 per cent from 2009. The UK market fared particuarly well and reached an important milestone in 2010, passing the nine billion can mark, up seven per cent on 2009.
