MP visits British can making plant
British Member of Parliament Mark Lancaster recently visited Rexam Beverage Can’s Milton Keynes plant to gain an insight into can making first hand. The plant visit allowed Mr Lancaster, who is the MP for Milton Keynes North, the opportunity to gain a better understanding of both the workings of the plant itself and Rexam as a company.
Aegler appointed CEO of Hoffmann Neopac
Mark Aegler has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of Swiss can maker Hoffmann Neopac. He has taken over from Dr Hans Jordi who has retired after 11 years heading up the company.
Hayes joins Sun Chemical
Sun Chemical, a leading manufacturer of printing inks and pigments, has announced the appointment of Greg Hayes as its new group managing director for the Northern European region.

Heilbronn Group to expand
Germany’s Heilbronn Group has acquired Heilbronn Pressen, a manufacturer of mechanical presses and complete stamping lines for the sheet metal forming industry worldwide. The new company will be integrated into the already existing holding structure and continue to act as a supplier for the general stamping market.
Long to take on Indian bike ride challenge
CarnaudMetalbox Engineering sales manager Adrian Long is attempting to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care by taking part in the Taj Mahal Cycle Challenge in November. Adrian will himself be covering the cost of flights, accommodation (tent hire), meals etc, so all donations will go to the charity which looks after terminally ill cancer patients.
Rexam increases production at Egyptian plant
Rexam has converted lines at its Egyptian beverage can plant from steel to aluminium after customers started to show a growing preference for aluminium. The company has also increased production capacity in order to meet customer demand.
Tooling company celebrates half-century
Tool Makers International is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The company was started back in 1961 to provide seamer tooling for major food canners in a fertile valley 50 miles south of San Francisco.
Lieb joins Sandvik
David Lieb has joined Sandvik as business development manager for can tooling. Lieb has 30 years of experience in the can industry giving him extensive knowledge of the can making process, including machinery, tooling, materials and lubrication.
Trac and Stolle agree partnership
Trac Measurement Systems and Stolle Machinery have joined forces in Brazil. The two companies have reached an agreement that will allow Stolle to support Trac products in South America.
Roeslein enters Chinese market
US-based Roeslein & Associates, systems integrator in the two-piece container industry, has officially opened a new engineering and manufacturing facility in China. Roeslein China operations comprises of a brand new, 3,000 square metre facility located 30 minutes from the Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
Miller joins Crown’s board of directors
Crown Holdings has announced that power industry executive James Miller has been elected to the company’s board of directors. The board now has 11 members.
