Ardagh set to buy Italian can maker
Ardagh Group has announced that it has agreed to buy Finanziaria di Partecipazioni Industriali (Fi Par), its first acquisition in the metal packaging sector since it was formed from Ardagh Glass and Impress Holdings last November.
Crown and WD-40 launch cans in support of US troops
Crown Aerosol Packaging North America has teamed up with WD-40 to launch a limited edition series of collectible cans to honour American military forces. The series consists of four different designs. Three depict air, sea and land themes while one combined graphic showcases all five military branches, including the Coast Guard.
Reebok switches to cans in India
Can maker Hindustan Tin Works (HTW) has helped enhance the Reebok brand by manufacturing tin containers that are being used as packaging for the company’s Playdry sportswear in India.

Students at a US University who are studying packaging science will benefit from contributions worth $400,000 that will be donated over five years by Crown Holdings. Kerbside scheme leads to increase in metal recycling
Metalmatters has announced the results of a groundbreaking pilot project designed to increase kerbside metal recycling rates. The project, conducted in conjunction with two local authorities in the UK, delivered significant results including a 12.9% increase in metals recycled in the biggest trial area of 54,283 households.
Rexam’s Fusion bottles used by Rok
Rok Natural Energy is using aluminium bottles from Rexam for its energy drinks range. US-based Rok has already started using the Fusion beverage bottles, which are supplied by the can maker.
Green politician visits Ball’s Hassloch plant
The chairman of the German Green Party was recently shown the latest can making innovations and technologies during a tour of Ball Packaging Europe’s Hassloch plant. Cem Özdemir was shown the German plant’s digital printing line for beverage cans which features a globally unique technology brought to market by Ball Packaging after extensive research and development.
